Death Notices

Eric Dewight Taylor
January 4, 1973 – May 3, 2025

Eric D. Taylor, 52, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on May 3, 2025 in Greensboro, AL.

He was born on January 4, 1973, to Hal and Linda Taylor in Meridian, MS.

A graduate of Wayne Academy, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in environmental science at the University of West Alabama. An internship with the chemical company, ECC International, led to a full-time job after graduation.

He spent roughly 20 years in the pulp and paper industry, initially with chemical companies and eventually working for paper companies, starting at Georgia Pacific in Pennington, AL.

In 2016, he became Operations Manager at Smurfit WestRock’s Hodge Mill. He completed the Professional Master’s in Manufacturing Leadership program at Georgia Tech in August of 2018, where he was particularly taken with the philosophy of servant leadership. Soon he was promoted to General Manager of Hodge Mill. He invited his professor from the PMML program, Professor Thomas, to Hodge Mill, and along with servant leadership author and consultant, Jim Hunter, developed a training course called Hodge University for his senior leadership team and salaried employees. Eric’s professor was very impressed with his knowledge of environmental challenges and his pride of the positive steps Smurfit WestRock’s Hodge Mill was taking. He made the statement that

Eric embodied the spirit of servant leadership.

Currently, Eric was General Manager at Smurfit WestRock’s Stevenson Mill in Stevenson, AL.

Lives were touched and forever changed through his servant leadership style of managing, motivating and encouraging his people. He left a great legacy that will live on forever through those he invested in.

As accomplished as he was, his family was his first priority. They meant more to him than anything else in the world and he demonstrated that by being a very devoted husband and father. Mandi, Jack and Sadie, were his pride and joy, and they were just as crazy about him. He was intentional with morning and nighttime routines, special weekend breakfasts with Daddy cooking and lots of traveling as a family. And he was determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. He jumped in to give Mama a break by taking over some routine tasks and made every day more fun. He could often be heard doing sing-alongs with the kids….one of his greatest hits was “Down by the Bay.”

Mandi will tell you she was married to the most wonderful man she has ever known…the greatest husband and father. He was also a very special son, brother and uncle to his family. Eric was known as ET and will be so greatly missed. He was kind, funny, had a contagious laugh, big heart and gave big hugs. He loved fiercely and was such a devoted, giving person who would do anything for anybody. If you knew him, you loved him!

Eric was a faithful member of Douglas Church in Ruston, LA.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and loved to share these experiences with family and friends. He also was an avid Ole Miss fan.

Eric is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Mandi Hunt Taylor, son Jack Bentley Taylor and daughter Sadie Isabelle Taylor; mother Linda Taylor, 2nd Mom Brenda Adair, brothers Randy Taylor (Karla) and Keith Taylor (Casey); sister Michelle Price (Blake); aunts and uncles, Shirley Faye Benson (Bill) and Ed Taylor, Jr. (Shirley), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hal Taylor and brother, Robert Anthony Taylor.

Family, friends and well-wishers will have the opportunity to pay their respects from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Cooper’s Chapel Church, located at 2131 Hwy 511 in Quitman, MS, with the funeral immediately following. Priscilla Ann Angelle
March 11, 1943 – May 2, 2025

Priscilla Ann Angelle, age 82 of Jonesboro was called to her Heavenly home on Friday, May 2, 2025. Priscilla was born on Thursday, March 11, 1943 in Arnaudville, Louisiana to the union of Essie Joseph and Marie (Noel) Angelle. Priscilla was a strong woman with a big heart. She worked as a prison guard and as a sheriff’s deputy for East Feliciana Parish. She also spent some time working for a bakery where she learned cake making skills and eventually used these talents to have a side business making cakes to order. Priscilla was proud of and loved her Cajun culture. She loved to show off her Cajun roots anyway she could. If she saw a t-shirt that was about being Cajun, she was going to have to add it to her collection and wear it proudly. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking up dishes such as gumbo and Etouffee for her family and friends.

Priscilla was a lady of many talents. She loved to bake, cook, to craft, do wood working, sewing, embroidering, quilting, jewelry making, hunting, fishing, crabbing, and deer hunting. If you met her she most likely was going to give you something before you left. She liked to gift new friends with pieces she had made and embroidered such and towels or aprons. When it came to deer hunting she loved to take her shot, but she usually was prepared just in case she missed. Priscilla would wear an old t-shirt when she hunted so that if she did miss the deer she did not get a good shirt torn. Priscilla enjoyed time with her family most of all. She loved her children and her nieces, nephews, and their children with all of the love her heart could muster.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Betty (Lachney) Womack and Darrell, Brenda (Lachney) Bryant and Cody; brother, Raymond Joseph Angelle and Margie Mae; brother in law, A.D. Stelly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie Joseph and Marie (Noel) Angelle; infant brother, Nelson Jospeh Angelle; siblings, Mercedes Angelle, Louis Benton Angelle, and twin sister, Patricia Ann Angelle Fontenot.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 5, 2025 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Lee officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
