Christian Mcguire accepts Scholarship from Tulane University

Christian Mcguire will attend Tulane University after receiving a scholarship worth $381K

Hard work pays dividends!

The evidence to this adage was proven this past week when Christian Mcguire, a JHHS upcoming graduating senior of the class of 2025, received and accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Tulane in New Orleans, LA. This is the second award Mcguire has received this spring, having also been awarded a scholarship to the university of his choice as a National Football Foundation Scholarship Winner.

The son of Cortez and Tyrhonda Mcguire of Jonesboro chose the Tulane scholarship offer of $380,100.00 over four other universities offering academic scholarships. Not only did McGuire receive a “full ride” academic scholarship from the state of Louisiana’s premier academic institution of higher learning, but he will also have the chance to run track and field for the Green Wave as well.

“I am very pleased to see Christian get rewarded for the work and effort he has given during his high school career,” said Jonesboro-Hodge head football and track coach Terrance Blankenship. “He is the kind of guy that every coach dreams of having. What he did on the field, track, and in the classroom is a great example for the athletes we have and the entire student body to follow. Speaking for the entire coaching staff, we wish him the best as he moves to this next stage and have full confidence he will succeed.”

Christian says he is very grateful to all who helped him secure his future through his academic and athletic success. He plans to major in Exercise Science while attending Tulane, participate in medical school, and become a Sports Medicine Doctor
