The 2025-26 school year has begun, and with it comes the beginning of a new sports season at area institutions of education. At Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School, the new sports seasons carry additional meaning as they also mark the introduction of a new girls’ basketball coach in Mr. Derrick Perry Sr.
“I’m Coach Perry, and I’m kicking off my 1st year as Head Coach of the Jonesboro-Hodge Middle School girls basketball team. I’m thrilled to bring that JH pride to not only the community, but to every classroom, gymnasium, and concession stand. Not only are we looking forward to dominating on the court athletically, but we will also exceed, excel and master in the classroom, raising the academic bar for an all-around equal balance. Help us cultivate a day-by-day routine where behavior and grades will be leveled to ensure elegance, class, and excellence. We plan to usher in a culture of unity, diversity, and legacy for an overall winning mindset, attitude, and reflection of our school. Here’s to an extraordinary 2025-2026 school year with God at the forefront. Let’s keep all our children covered in prayer as we go higher in every endeavor this life has to offer. This isn’t an I or a me thing, but an us and a we thing. Let’s do this together.” – Derrick Perry Sr.
