Darkness is a Feeling
I give very little thought about light until I experience a power failure.
Where is that flashlight?
I’d feel uneasy alone outside at night in a strange place and would certainly avoid a dark deserted building.
Darkness is a feeling. It can invade our minds and fill them with overwhelming fear and discouragement.
God is our light.
“This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:5-7 NASB).”
The LORD doesn’t leave us alone to battle the darkness.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified nor dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9 NASB).”
The LORD illumines our darkness; yet, He also hides treasures there.
“I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden wealth of secret places,
So that you may know that it is I,
The Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name (Isaiah 45:3 NASB).”
He knows my name!
