Debra Hargrove Fordham celebrates 55th Anniversary at State Farm Insurance

The year was 1970. It was a time of unrest as protests raged over the Vietnam War across the nation, including violent gatherings at Kent State and Jackson State Universities, where students ended up being shot and killed. The formation of the EPA and OSHA made the workplace safer, and Casey Kasem hosted his first American Top 40 program.

Locally, another significant event took place as well. While maybe not one that would register on the national scale it was a happening that still brings joy and benefits to Jackson Parish residents today.

That was the year that Jonesboro resident Debra Hargrove Fordham began her tenure with State Farm Insurance Agency. Truly, it is a rarity to find someone who has been at the same job for 55 years, but according to the post she made on her Facebook page, on August 25th, the day of her work anniversary, she has no plans to end her career any time soon.

“We are celebrating my 55 years at the farm today! I have the best boss, Shawn Murphy, his wife, Donna Kay, and teammates in the world! Thanks for everything! Looking forward to another 55 years working with you all! And to you, my loyal customers, you are the BEST! And to my quilting buddies, check out my cake made by Sheryl Holder, along with her scrumptious brownies and cookies! Love all of you!

Congratulations, Debra, on your tremendous accomplishment!
