A lot of time in the woods spent after school culminated with the Weston High School Blue Team placing 2nd at the Area 1 Forestry CDE that was held on October 3rd in Ruston. By virtue of their fine showing, the squad qualified for the State Forestry CDE on October 21st at the Hill Farm Research Station in Homer.

The team was led by Nathan Pierce, who was the high point individual in Tree Identification, Equipment Identification, and Timber Cruising to earn the Overall Individual High Point Award with an impressive 526 points out of a possible 600. Jake North was also the high point individual in compass and pacing.

In the National FFA Organization, CDE stands for Career Development Event, which are competitions that help FFA members develop critical thinking, teamwork, communication, and technical skills related to agricultural careers. CDEs are offered at local, state, and national levels and cover a wide range of topics, from business management and marketing to forestry, veterinary science and food science, preparing students for success in the workforce.
