Practice Makes Perfect

I’ve never been an athletic person and have little interest in sports, yet I frequently check final scores on football teams and have a fascination with tennis. There’s beauty in the sight of well-trained men and women swiftly moving back and forth across a tennis court.

Will their racket make contact with the approaching ball?

Hitting the tennis ball is only part of the competition. A winner must have a powerful, well-aimed serve as well.

How’s your serve?

Speaking of serving… I miss the days of full service at gas stations. They are few and far between. Self-serve is the way of the day.

“But it should not be that way with you. Whoever wants to be your leader must be your servant. Whoever wants to be first must serve the rest of you like a slave. Follow my example: Even the Son of Man did not come for people to serve him. He came to serve others and to give his life to save many people (Mark 10:43-45 ERV).”

Practice makes perfect.

My serve will improve each time that I reach out to someone with a helping hand.
