On Tuesday, April 21st, Jonesboro-Hodge Elementary School (J-HES) proudly partnered with representatives from Smurfit-WestRock, in Hodge, LA, who read and distributed Tiny Timber Crew Books to each 2nd Grader.
Books included “Travis Visits a Tree Farm,” “Sam Visits a Sawmill,” and “Lucy Meets a Logger,” all written by Stephanie Fuller and illustrated by Agus Prajogo and Yohanes Bastian. The informational texts explained the processes of harvesting trees, delivering them, and turning them into useful products such as toilet paper and even ice cream!
“I recognize the paper mill is the center of our community and is sentimental to many students’ families, our faculty/staff, and me. The books prompted rich discussions regarding the paper industry and its benefits to us all. I would like to thank Smurfit-WestRock for visiting with us and look forward to partnering in the near future.”- Ms. Copeland, Principal
