Jessica Sims from Quitman High School Recognized as JPSD “Staff Standout”

In an effort to honor the outstanding educators who toil tirelessly to give students in the Jackson Parish school system the best education possible, the Jackson Parish School District (JPSD) is pleased to continue the weekly educator recognition program, “Who We Are Wednesday.”

Each Wednesday, one of the JPSD faculty members is recognized for their tremendous commitment, dedication, and excellence in the classroom, which helps our local youth prepare for their future endeavors. This week, Jessica Sims, a dedicated High School English Teacher and Coach at Quitman High School, is honored as “Staff Standout.”

With 20 years in education, including 12 years serving Jackson Parish Schools, Jessica believes that what makes teaching truly special for her is the students and staff at Quitman. She loves watching students grow not only academically, but also athletically. As someone with deep roots in the Quitman community, she takes pride in giving back to the very school that supported her education.

One of her most memorable moments came when Quitman High School earned an “A” school status—a milestone that reflected the hard work and dedication of students and staff alike. Seeing students recognized for their commitment to their education made the achievement even more meaningful.

Jessica credits Kay Barr as a positive influence in her life—someone who, even outside the classroom, took the time to listen, encourage, and support students. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, shopping, going to the beach, and spending time with the people she loves most.

Join us in celebrating Jessica Sims as the “WOW” recipient for the month of April and the impact she continues to make at Quitman High School!
