The May 16, 2026, election has several ballot items of interest to residents of Jackson Parish, including federal, state, and local governmental positions, the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Millage Renewal, and several state constitutional amendments. 

In this edition of the Jackson Parish Journal, an explanation of how the JPSO Law Enforcement Millage Renewal ballot issue affects the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office and residents of Jackson Parish is shown. 

First and foremost is is important to know that this is not a new tax but a renewal of an existing millage that has been in place since 1980.
