Both schools competed in track and field meets on Wednesday and Thursday, with Quitman winning the girls division and boys, minus a few key competitors, finishing as runner-up in the pre-region warm up comprising of District !B schools held at Quitman High School on Wednesday, April 22nd. In the District 1-1A track meet held at Lakeside High School in Sibley, LA on Thursday, the Lady Tigers won second place and the boys came in fourth.

Lady Tigers 2nd, boys 4th in District 1-1A Meet

Haynesville High School won both the girls and boys divisions of the 2026 District 1-1A track meet held at Lakeside High School in Sibley, LA, on Thursday, April 23rd, with Jonesboro-Hodge coming in second place in the girls division and the boys team placing fourth.

The Lady Tigers won seven events, including four by Ciara Gray, but the overall depth of Haynesville, which accumulated points in all 16 events except one, led the Golden Tornado to outpoint JHHS 140-129 for the district title. Cedar Creek was third with 114 points. The Tiger boys scored 67 points overall to come in fourth place behind Haynesville (154), Cedar Creek (112), and Ringgold (79).

Ciara Gray continued her stellar season by leading the Lady Tigers with four individual championships, taking the 100 and 300 hurdles, long jump, and triple jump. Her 14.33-second time in the 100-meter hurdles was her best of the season by nearly a full second and established a new all-time Jackson Parish and JHHS school record time in the event. The 46.26-second run in the 300-meter hurdles was also the 7th-best all-time in parish and school records.

Carmon Livingston took the distinction of being the fastest girl in the district by winning the 100 meters with a time of 12;40 seconds, which was also good for a tie for 8th place in Jackson Parish and school annals.

Additional gold medal winners were the 4×100 relay team of Carmon Livingston, Derryn Osborne, Sanaa Tatum, Jakhorielle Lard, and the 4×200 relay team of Zu’Wy’Neshya Johnson, Carmon Livingston, Derryn Osborne, Sanaa Tatum, both of whom are now in 9th place all-time in Jackson Parish and jHHS annals.

QHS Girls Win, Boys Second in Pre-Region Warmup

It wasn’t an official District 1B championship meet, but all but one of the schools that competed were from 1B, with the exception of Choudrant High, at what was classified as the 2026 Quitman Pre-Region Warmup held at the Quitman High track complex.

In team competition, the Quitman girls ran away with the meet, scoring a phenomenal 192 points to far outpoint Castor and Weston, which finished in second and third with 92 and 72.5 points, respectively. Without Gage Horton running his three specialty events and who is the Class B leader in the 400, 800, and 1600 meters, the Wolverines finished in second place by a narrow 137-136 margin to Castor, with Weston coming in 6th place.
