As a result of a project made possible through an agreement between the Jackson Parish Watershed Commission and the Jimmie Davis State Park, a new kayak launch site is available on Caney Lake, located at the east boat launch site. 

Whether you are a beginner or skilled kayaker, you will find this launch to be extremely user-friendly. The park has kayaks for rent, or you can bring your own.

“I would like to personally thank the park staff and watershed commission members for making this happen for public use,” said Jackson Parish Watershed Commission President Gary Joynor. “I also thank Mr. Thurston Allen and the Jonesboro State Bank Pledge 10 committee for fully funding this project.”
