Maggie Guyotte – Quitman High School
Maggie Guyotte has received many accolades during her stellar career as a Quitman High School softball player. All-District, All-State, Player of the Week, etc…. The list is long and well-deserving, as it should be for the state of Louisiana’s all-time hit and RBI leader, who ranks second all-time in career home runs.
Prior to Quitman’s LHSAA Class B regional round playoff game against Pikin, on April 20th, the Louisiana Tech University signee received another award, one that has been coveted by athletes from northeast Louisiana for the past 25 years – the “Aaron’s Ace” Award.
Presented by KNOE TV 8 Sports Director and show host Aaron Dietrich, Maggie received the “Aaron’s Ace” special shirt, which holds great meaning among athletes from across the region.
“It’s pretty awesome,” said Guyotte. “I wasn’t expecting this.”
The timing couldn’t have been better as Guyotte turned in one of her better performances of the year in leading Quitman to a 10-0 victory by smashing two home runs and driving in five runs to up her season home run and RBI totals to 16 and 52, respectively, both among the leaders in the state this year.
