EXAMPLE OF SCAM #2
In this scam, someone may call a family member and claim they can get a person released from jail if money is paid for an ankle monitor or electronic monitoring. The caller may claim to work for law enforcement, the court, or a bonding company. They may also use the name of someone who is actually in jail to make the call sound more real.
The Sheriff’s Office will not call and demand payment by phone for an inmate’s release. We do not accept bond payments through Cash App, Bitcoin, Walmart gift cards, Green Dot cards, prepaid cards, or similar methods.
Do not send money, card numbers, barcodes, receipts, or personal information to anyone making these claims.
If you receive a call like this, hang up. If it pertains to an inmate in the Jackson Parish Jail or a pre-trial inmate for Jackson Parish, please call the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office at (318) 259-9021 to report the incident.
