The Thomas family proudly announces that the 2026 Pat Thomas Memorial Scholarship winner is Addison Paige Fenn. Addison was presented with a one-time $1,000.00 scholarship during the Quitman High School graduation ceremony held on Saturday, May 23, 2026. She plans to attend Louisiana State University and major in pre-nursing or pre-law.
The Thomas family would like to thank those who have served on the selection committee, both this year and in the past. Choosing a recipient each year is challenging. We would also like to express our gratitude to Principal Chris Cavin and the staff at QHS for their continued support throughout this process each year.
Following the 2016 death of our mom, Pat Thomas, our family established the Thomas Family Scholarship Fund. We wanted to honor her legacy of service to God, her Church, her community, and to Quitman High School. In addition to the scholarship, our family also makes donations to special projects, an athletic team, an activity, or a club at the school.
As part of the selection process, all scholarship applicants are screened based on the following characteristics that were present in the life of our mom:
• Honor
• Character
• Integrity
• Humility
• Willingness to serve others without the expectation of recognition or personal attention.
Addison certainly encompasses all of Mom’s attributes. The committee was particularly impressed by Addison’s character, determination, and compassion. The letters of recommendation we receive each year on behalf of the applicants always provide great insight.
The comments below are just a sample of the comments written about Addison:
“Addison has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a willingness to go above and beyond. Her communication skills and ability to interact with others in a courteous and helpful manner makes her an asset in any setting.”
“She approaches adversity with maturity and determination, qualities that set her apart as a student and individual.”
“Because of Addison’s leadership qualities, academic excellence, and deep appreciation for her family, friends, and faith, I wholeheartedly believe she is well-prepared for success beyond high school.”
Even though Addison may not yet know whether her path will lead her toward pre-nursing or pre-law, she walks forward with confidence, knowing that God has already laid out the perfect plan for her. The Thomas family has no doubt that He will guide her toward the path where she can make the greatest impact—one that allows her to bless the world, honor her purpose, and continue the legacy of strength and excellence carried by our mom and the winners that have come before her.
Addison wrote:
“I know that God has the perfect plan for me. My faith is very important to me.”
“I would like to give back to the community. Volunteering has shown me that humanity isn’t as lost as we might think sometimes. Even if we see on the news sometimes people hurting others, helping out your community will bring it together and allow this to not happen quite as much as it does now.”
Change the world, Addison! We need more compassionate people who are willing to go the extra mile. Congratulations! We pray God blesses you and your journey! – Thomas family
