Jonesboro Fire Department Quickly Resolves Gas Leak Scare on Industrial Drive

Great Work!
Members of the Jonesboro Fire Department quickly resolved a scary gas leak situation, keeping Jonesboro residents safe.

At 4:08 pm on Monday, July 20th, an EMERGENCY ALERT was broadcast over the Town of Jonesboro Civic Plus notification system indicating a major natural gas leak had been reported on Industrial Drive and advising residents to stay away from the area until further notice.

The Jonesboro Fire Department (JFD) and local emergency crews quickly identified that the leak was coming from one of three tanks situated on the north side of Industrial Drive, just across from Fair’s Diesel Services. Through their trained responsiveness, the JFD secured a valve that was allowing the gas to escape and safely resolved the scary situation. During the repair effort, representatives from O’Neal Gas arrived and, after inspecting the tank, confirmed that there was no further danger, leading the Civic Plus notification system to give an ALL CLEAR signal to residents at 5:48 pm the same day.

Jonesboro Fire Chief Aaron Blalock expressed his appreciation to members of his department for their fast and effective response.

“I am extremely proud of the way our guys responded through the use of their training to quickly resolve a potentially very dangerous situation,” said Blalock.
