With temperatures soaring into the upper 90’s, the National Weather Service Office in Shreveport, LA has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for residents of Jackson Parish and the surrounding areas to the east and north. An Extreme Heat Warning is issued when extremely dangerous heat conditions are expected or occurring.

Recommendations include avoiding outdoor activities, especially during the heat of the day, and if you must be outside, wear lightweight, light colored clothing; be sure to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in the shade. Stay indoors in an air-conditioned space as much as possible, including overnight. Check on family and neighbors.
