On August 12th The Jackson Parish Recreation Board had the privilege of recognizing the JP 13–14 All-Star baseball team for receiving the Sportsmanship Award at the Dixie Boys Baseball Louisiana State Tournament.

What makes this honor especially meaningful is that the Sportsmanship Award is voted on by the other teams participating in the tournament.

While wins, championships, and athletic accomplishments are always something to be proud of, the Sportsmanship Award is one of the most important honors a team can receive. It speaks not only to the type of athletes these young men are, but more importantly, to the character, respect, and sportsmanship they displayed while representing Jackson Parish.

“This is high praise for an outstanding group of players and coaches,” said Jackson Parish Recreation Department Director Justin Dodson. “We are extremely proud of the way they represented Jackson Parish Recreation both on and off the field.”
