The Jimmie Davis State Park is one of the more popular summertime destinations in the state. That is verified by the statistics that were shared by Jackson Parish Watershed Commission President Gary Joynor on August 26th.

According to Joynor, who received the information from Jimmie Davis State Park officials, a total of 21,689 people visited the park in July. Breaking the information down even further shows that day use and overnight stays by in-state and out-of-state residents were as follows.

Day use (in-state) was 8,829
Day use (out of state) was: 5
Overnight use (in-state) was: 7,229
Overnight use (out of state) was: 5,626
Total: 21,689
