Jackson Parish Tourism Board Meets on Tuesday, September 8

The Jackson Parish Tourism Board held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 8, in the Sunshine Room of the Jackson Parish Administration Building, located at 182 Industrial Drive in Jonesboro. Board members include Tammy Gunter, Kelly Spangler, Karen Tolar, Yumeaka Washington, Sandy Joynor, Kari Potts, and DeAquanique Jackson.

The session began with approval of the minutes and financials from the July meeting and payment of bills. After reviewing old business, the panel discussed the following:
a. Supplies for giveaways for tourists
b. Promoting tourism through website and/or Facebook account
c. Request from Forest Haven to participate in the Forest Fest
d. Request from the Town of Jonesboro for the return of Madjax Fair to Jackson Parish

The meeting concluded following discussion of other business.

The Jackson Parish Tourism Commission was established by ordinance in April of 1988 to be responsible for meeting regularly to review, discuss, and take action to promote tourism through development, maintenance, and initiative of the tourist industry and to preserve and develop historic sites and areas, museums, and tourist attractions throughout Jackson Parish.
