It has become the bane of high school football in North Louisiana. There simply aren’t enough officials for the number of games scheduled each Friday night, so games are being moved to Thursdays. Jonesboro-Hodge got caught up in the problem this week when the contest at Delhi Charter, originally scheduled for Friday, was moved to Thursday. Kick off is set for 7:00 pm
“It is what it is,” said JHHS head football coach Terrance Blankenship. “We would prefer to play on Friday as it gives us an extra day of practice, but we have to do what we have to do.”
The Tigers look to go to 2-0 on the season for the first time since 2020 and only the second time in Coach Blankenship’s career when they travel to Delhi to play the District 3-2A Gators, the second straight Class 2A school they will have played to open the year. Delhi Charter will be looking for their first win of the year, having lost 55-14 against Cedar Creek in Ruston in their season opener.
The contest will mark the 5th ever meeting between the schools in the series that began in 2009, with both teams having won two games. JHHS won the inaugural meeting 19-8 in 2009 and again last year, 42-27, while Delhi Charter won in 2010 and 2024 by 33-7 and 45-26. For those who believe in signs, both times JHHS beat Delhi Charter, the Tigers went on to have a winning season, while the two times the Tigers lost, they had a losing season.

For those who won’t be able to make the trip, you can catch the contest on the Roux102 radio station, found on your radio dial at 102.3 fm. The broadcast will begin at 6:30 pm with the Tigers pregame show that will feature the “Coaches Show” where JHHS head coach Terrance Blankenship will sit down with Ric Godley of Roux102 to talke about the upcoming contest and last week’s 14-8 victory over Lakeside to open the season.
