JACKSON PARISH, La. – The Office of Louisiana Highway Construction (OLHC) completed the $2.12 million replacement of the LA 148 bridge over Cypress Bayou Tributary in Jackson Parish, delivering the new structure six days ahead of schedule, thanks in part to the support of state legislators who championed funding for projects like this one. The project advances Governor Jeff Landry’s commitment to accelerating critical road and bridge improvements and delivering results for the people of Louisiana.
The project replaced a 37-foot timber trestle bridge with a new 60-foot concrete slab-span bridge supported by steel pipes. The new three-span structure carries LA 148 over Cypress Bayou Tributary approximately one mile east of US 167. The replacement restores this section of LA 148 to motorists following a construction closure that began in April.
“It takes a dedicated team of professionals working toward a common goal to deliver a project of this importance ahead of schedule,” said OLHC Executive Director Archie Chaisson. “Our office is committed to assembling teams that prioritize safety, efficiency, and reliable travel for Louisiana communities, helping keep Louisiana moving at the speed of life.”
Crews began construction on April 28, 2026, with a 107-day schedule. The project reached substantial completion on Aug. 6, demonstrating OLHC’s ability to efficiently advance priority infrastructure projects while delivering reliable, long-term results. The project was delivered in partnership with Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC, Volkert, Inc., ELOS, Intertek PSI, and Duplantis Design Group.
Delivered through state funding as a non-federal-aid project, the LA 148 bridge replacement reflects OLHC’s strategic approach to infrastructure investment. By maximizing state resources, OLHC continues to advance priority road and bridge projects across Louisiana and build on the strong foundation established in its first year of operation.
OLHC was established under Act No. 389 during the 2025 Regular Legislative Session. The office advances Louisiana’s infrastructure through disciplined project management, transparent procurement, and rigorous construction oversight, focusing on delivering high-quality infrastructure efficiently and responsibly.
