The first 11 days of October have been especially busy for the Jackson Parish School Board, which, after holding a special called meeting on the 1st of the month, held a second special called meeting on Thursday, October 8th, sandwiching a regularly scheduled meeting on October 5th.
Four items were on this special called meeting agenda, with the first being board members Mary Saulters, Rick Barlow, Gerry Mims, Wade McBride, Paulette Belton, and Dennis Clary agreeing to hire Kristi Bass as a part-time employee to train the Business Manager.
The next item of business was to give Interim Superintendent Robin Potts a $2,000.00 per month raise for additional duties and in a corresponding move, permission to approve all expenditures up to $10,000.00 without Board approval. The final piece of business was approving fiscal year 2026-2027 certificated and support staff stipend supplemental payments to be paid in January 2027, including allocation amounts directed by the Governor’s Executive Order 26-047.
