Per a statement issued by the Village of Quitman Water System, the Water Boil Advisory that was issued on October 2nd for customers on Bear Knoll Drive is still in place, with hopes that it will be lifted after receiving test results from the Louisiana Department of Health on Tuesday.
The Quitman Water System experienced a leak in the water line crossing the Dugdemona River on Bear Knoll Drive, resulting in a loss of pressure within the distribution system. To isolate the leaking section, the valve on the northeast side of the river was closed. This action interrupted water service to all customers on Bear Knoll Drive southwest of the Dugdemona River.
As a precaution, the Quitman Water System issued a BOIL ADVISORY, effective immediately, for these affected customers. This advisory will remain in effect until the Quitman Water System officially rescinds it.
Affected customers should disinfect water before drinking it, making ice or beverages, brushing teeth, preparing food, or rinsing foods. Bring water to a rolling boil in a clean container and continue boiling for one (1) full minute. Begin timing only after the water reaches a rolling boil. Allow the water to cool before use.
