Douglas F. Lowery – Age 77

Mr. Douglas F. Lowery, age 77 of Quitman passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 after a lengthy period of declining health. He was a retired crane operator for the paper mill. Mr. Lowery was a fun-loving and outgoing person who truly never met a stranger. He enjoyed all out-door activities – hunting, fishing, spending time outside with family and friends. Douglas was a family first type of person who totally loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His greatest joy in life was being with all of his family and loving, laughing and sharing time with them.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Bobbie Lowery; children, Penny Joiner & Charles, Tammy Anderson & Lamar, Ricky Lowery & Gay, Gary Lowery & Jennifer; grandchildren, Chris Joiner & Kristi, Christy Reed & Austin, Scotty Anderson & Stephanie, Brian Anderson, Stone Anderson Monnin, Aaron Pritchard, Kendal Prudhomme & Lexus, Brenna Rae Lowery; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Lou Ann Howell, Lecia Blaire, Donny Lowery. Preceding Mr. Lowery in death are grandchildren, Brittany Anderson, Brody Pritchard; parents, Oscar Lee & Iva Mae (Rison) Lowery; siblings, Billy Ray Lowery, Lessie Ramsey, Bobby Gene Lowery, Lindell Lowery.

The funeral service was held 1:00PM Saturday, May 2, 2020 in the chapel with Reverend Bill Staples and Reverend Michael Whitman officiating and Patrick Howell, Tom Ouzts, Jr., Tommy Smith, Travis Reed, Jeff Brooks and Sherman Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were Chet Ramsey, Fred Rison, Richard Gene Lowery. Interment followed in the Transport Cemetery, near Dodson, under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
