
It was the final meeting of the year but the primary focus was on the upcoming year as the Jackson Parish Police Jury (JPPJ) hashed out a 34 item agenda. The meeting that was held at the Dr. Charles H. Garrett Community Center, located at182 Industrial Drive, Jonesboro, LA 71251 this past Monday did find jurors Todd Culpepper, Lewis Chatham, John McCarty, Amy Magee, Tarneshala “Niki” Cowans, Regina Rowe and Lynn Treadway make some adjustments to some 2021 issues but primarily put things into place for next year.
Before the meeting began a Public Hearing was held. It was in regard to giving the public the ability to comment about the proposed adoption of two ordinances. One was in regard to amending 2021 operating budgets for General Fund, Special Revenue Funds, Debt Service Fund, and Capital Projects Funds for the fiscal year 2021 while the other was about the adoption of budgets in same areas for fiscal year 2022. Both ordinances passed in regular session by unanimous roll call vote.
After the approval of minutes and finances from the month before as well as heairng department reports the panel turned thier attention to acting on the following:
Approve the 2022 Asphalt Maintenance Program for the Road Department
Approve the 2022 Employee Salary Schedule
Adopt the 2022 Organization Chart
Authorize advertising for 2022 material bids for fuel and cold mix
Act on elevator modernization from Otis Elevator
Act on increasing Coroner’s Fees to $75 per call starting in 2022
Approving the 2022 North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory Commission budget
Adopt the 2021 budget amendments and 2022 budget for the Recreation District
Adopt the 2021 budget amendments and 2022 budget for the Library Board
Authorize a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with Hunt, Guillot, & Associates for grant management services
Authorizing the President to sign the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement for Act 119 funds
Authorize a CEA agreement with the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office for Courthouse security services
Authorize a CEA agreement with the Jackson Parish Sheriff’s Office for IT services
Act on the IT agreement with HiTech
Accept the proposal and authorize a contract with Dude Solutions for their asset management software program
Accept the bids from the 2021 surplus sale
Adopt a resolution accepting the opioid settlement
Authorize the use of the Community Center for the requested date for the LSU Ag Center
Act on Parish Board Appointments
The meeting adjourned follwing two announcements. First was that Jackson Parish would host the April 2022 OEP Meeting and second was the taking of 2022 Liquor Applications.
