WHS News: Cross Country meet Saturday, Softball wins, Fall Fest Poster Winners


On Saturday, October 15th, Weston High School will host a Cross Country Meet. The public is invited to attend the event that will start with varsity races at 8:00am followed by K-8th grade races beginning at 9:30am. Entry fee is $5.00 per car. Kona Ice, Sausage dogs, fries, and other refreshments will be available for purchase as well. Schools competing are Weston, Quitman, Jonesboro-Hodge, Calvin, Winnfield Jr. High, Ouachita Christian and Cornerstone Christian Academy.

Results from Good Hope: Three runners from the WHS Elementary Cross Country Team that competed at Good Hope Middle School this weekend finished in the top 10 of their divisions.
Miriam Shuler finished 5th in the girls K-2 race.
Kaine Stassen finished 10th in the boys 3rd and 4th grade race.
Anna Pardue finished 7th in the girls 5th and 6th grade race.

WHS Jr. High Softball wins first of season

Head coach Cecilia Chambless and her Weston Junior High Softball team beat Simsboro 8-4 on Monday for their first win of the season. Carly Jo Griffin smashed a double, and 12 Lady Wolves drew free passes as Weston scored three runs in each of the first two innings and two more in the third. Carlynn Waters and Gracie Gray combined to no-hit Simsboro over four innings and struck out six. Scoring for Weston was Jaylyn Williams, Kerley Davis, Carlyn Waters, Davynee Bearden, Anna Shows, Gracie Gray, Teegan Hall and Shyanne Chatham. 

Lady Wolves make it two in a row! 

Weston Junior High made it two in a row and their first win on the road by beating Doyline 5-3 on Tuesday. Carlynn Waters recorded 6 strikeouts and gave up no earned runs to help Weston improve their record to 2-3 on the season. Batting stars included Carly Jo Griffin, Carlynn Waters and Keeley Davis. Anna Shows also had an RBI. Next up for Weston is a game that will be played on the campus of Weston High School against Calvin at 4:00 pm on Thursday. 

 

WHS Fall Fest on Monday, October 17th

Weston High School is pleased to announce that the annual Fall Fest will take place on Monday, October 17th. Tables for vendors and candidates in the upcoming November election are available for a chance to meet and greet and give away items. NO SALES ARE ALLOWED! Food sales start at 5:30pm, games start at 6:00pm and the cake auction will begin at 7:00pm with the festivities concluding at 8:00pm. 

Poster winners announced! Weston students in grades ranging from Pre-K to 5th grade took part in a Fall Fest Poster competition. Winners were announced in three divisions: Pre-K & K, 1st – 3rd Grade, 4th-5th Grade and also to the four that earned Honorable Mention.
