Quitman boys and girls claim second place in 1B

Both the girls and boys teams headed to Doyline this past Thursday evening with the hopes that by nights end that they would come home with a district title in hand, or at least a share of one. In regard to the girls, they needed a little help. Even if they beat Doyline it was imperative that Castor beat Weston so that all three teams would end in with a 4-2. Quitman did it’s part. Castor didn’t. The result was that the Lady Wolverines finished in second place of district 1B.

The boys were more in control of their destiny needing only to beat Doyline to claim the title. Easy enough right? Not so fast….It needs to be mentioned that the only time that Doyline has lost at home in the last five years was  to Class 5A Byrd High out of Shreveport two years ago. Making only 15 of 55 shots that included 6 of 25 from behind the arc didn’t help the cause either as Doyline continued their home mastery to claim the title and saddle the Wolverines with a second place finish.
