Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District dedicates Training Center with Open House

With a plethora of local dignitaries on hand, the Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District (JPASD) dedicated their new Training Center on Tuesday, May 30th with a traditional Ribbon Cutting ceremony and Open House. Along with many Jackson Parish residents, JPASD administration, staff and Board of Directors, additional well wishers on hand included Town of Jonesboro Mayor James Harris, Louisiana State Fire Marshal Deputy Mark Treadway and representatives of the Louisiana Ambulance Alliance.

The gala event served a dual purpose as the JPASD celebrated their 25th anniversary of being in existence, evidenced by the official public records of the Jackson Parish Police Jury meeting held on May 4, 1998, that is shown below.

The Jackson Parish Police Jury met in regular session on Monday, May 4, 1998, with the following members present: Ernest Conn, David McManus, Leslie Thompson, Dr. Charles Garrett, and Troy L. Smith. Also present: Douglas Stokes, Assistant District Attorney.
The Police Jury then discussed the creation of a Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District. The Police Jury reviewed the draft ambulance district creation ordinance with Mr. Stokes.
Motion Dr. Garrett seconded Mr. Conn to adopt the ordinance, with Section 3 amended to add that the commissioners will serve without pay and setting the effective date of the ordinance as June 1, 1998. MOTION CARRIED.

“This motion created the Jackson Parish Ambulance Service District. Now, 25 years later, we are celebrating the years of trials and the years of harvest. There are to many to list in thanks for your years of sacrifice and service to Jackson Parish. So I will say it again and again to all of you, THANK YOU!”  – JPASD Director Aaron Johnson
