Three students representing the Jackson Parish School District and their respective high schools recently returned from the National Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Conference held in Atlanta, GA. Over 12,000 participants hailing from every state in the nation and international countries such as China and Canada attended.
The four-day conference which ran from June 27-30, is considered the pinnacle of the FBLA experience as the best and brightest of FBLA convened to compete in leadership events, share their successes, and learn new ideas about shaping their career future through workshops and exhibits. An exciting and educational tour of the iconic Coca-Cola Museum and College Football Hall of Fame was included.
The 2023 National FBLA Convention representatives from Jackson Parish and the discipline that they competed in were:
Houston Cox – Jonesboro-Hodge High School – Introduction to Information Technology
Sebastian Guinn – Quitman High School – Sports & Entertainment Management
Omarri Calahan Jr. – Quitman High School – Sports & Entertainment Management
The Jackson Parish School District would like to thank and recognize FBLA sponsors, Ms. Bonnie Goss of Quitman High and Ms. Alberta Foster from Jonesboro-Hodge High School, for their dedicated effort in preparing these talented students for the future. Also, appreciation goes to Jonesboro-Hodge High School Athletic Director Terrance Blankenship, who chaperoned the students on the trip.
