Burn Ban issued for Jackson Parish effective Wednesday, October 25th

Jackson Parish Fire Chief’s Association President and Quitman Fire District 1 Chief Philip Brown announces that a Burn Ban has been issued for Jackson Parish effective at 8:00 am on Wednesday, October 25th. 

The ban prohibits ALL outdoor burning until such time the Fire Chief determines that weather conditions are safe enough to cancel the burn ban.

The Ordinance (05-0825-2011) SHALL NOT apply to prescribed burns by the LA Dept. of Agriculture and Forestry, by those trained and certified by the Dept. of Agriculture and Forestry, or by those who conduct prescribed burning as a “generally accepted agriculture practice” as defined by the Louisiana Right to Farm Law (R.S. 3:3601 et seq)

Violation of this burn ban may result in a $500.00 fine and/or six months in jail.
