This Friday evening, January 5th, Saline High School was scheduled to host Cedar Creek in Ruston for a girls and boys varsity basketball contest. If you want to watch it though, you are going to have to travel just a little further south. Like to New Orleans!
That is because instead of the Bobcats and Cougars taking the floor at the Saline High gymnasium, the two schools will be playing the contests in the Smoothie Center, home of the New Orleans Pelicans.
The “once in a lifetime” opportunity for the two small schools from north Louisiana to play in an NBA venue was made available when Saline head boys basketball coach, Klint Robinson, inquired about a special “Court of Dreams” promotion being conducted by the Pelicans.
The promotion allows for two high schools to play a varsity girls and boys game, prior to a regularly scheduled New Orleans Pelicans game. Finding out that January 5th was one of the promotion dates, Robinson called Cedar Creek head boys basketball coach Lance Waldrin, who quickly agreed to take part.
Tickets to the two games, as well as, the New Orleans Pelicans vs Los Angeles Clippers game that will follow is $25.00 each and are available by calling either Saline High at (318) 576-3215 or Cedar Creek at (318) 255-7707.
Donations are also being accepted f you can’t make the trip but want to show your support by helping defray the expenses of the trip for the teams.
