The Defense Rests
Audiences have followed courtroom drama for decades. The Perry Mason character drew radio listeners long before he made his way to black & white TV. Mysteries need to be unraveled; witnesses questioned and cases resolved. The guilty are tried and sentenced. Relieved, the innocent are cleared by the jury’s verdict.
“We find the defendant not guilty.”
Visualize God’s courtroom …
State your case.
“Hear now what the Lord is saying,
‘Arise, plead your case before the mountains,
And let the hills [as witnesses] hear your voice.
‘Hear, O mountains, the indictment of the Lord,
And you enduring foundations of the earth,
For the Lord has a case (a legal complaint) against His people,
And He will dispute (challenge) Israel.
‘O My people, what have I done to you [since you have turned away from Me]?
And how have I wearied you? Answer Me (Micah 6:1-3 AMP)
My case wouldn’t stand up in court.
‘Your honor, the defense rests.’
Praise God; Jesus intercedes for me.
“My little children (believers, dear ones), I am writing you these things so that you will not sin and violate God’s law. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate [who will intercede for us] with the Father: Jesus Christ the righteous [the upright, the just One, who conforms to the Father’s will in every way—purpose, thought, and action] (1 John 2:1 AMP).”
