Twenty four baseball teams from all over the state will descend on the Jackson Parish Recreation Department Sports Complex this Thursday thru Sunday, July 11-14, for the Dixie Youth 8U “Coach Pitch” State Tournament.

Included will be the host Jackson Parish squad coached by Joshua Jones and assistants Jacob Norred, Jacob Otwell and Joshua Henderson. Team members include Ashton Anderson, Briggs Craighead, Duke Henderson, Jeremiah Jones, Carson Knox, Rafe Lewter, Levi Norred, Brennon Otwell, Isaac Session, Braxton Theriot, Sutton Vail and Austin West. 

The tournament will begin with “Pool Play on Thursday and Friday where the 24 teams are divided into six separate, four team pools, with each playing each other once. 

The winners of each “Pool” and the two teams who win the “play-in” bracket comprised of the six second place pool finishers will then move on to play in the modified, double elimination, championship bracket on Saturday and Sunday.

Jackson Parish, which has been placed in Pool F along with teams from Benton, Oakdale and West Monroe, plays their first game at 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 11 on against West  Monroe. They will play again on Friday, July 12, at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm against Oakdale and Benton respectively. All games will be played on Field 4.
