
D.J. Palmer scored 9 of his team high 18 points in the third quarter to help #23 seed Jonesboro-Hodge take a 46-45 lead heading into the fourth quarter but homestanding Montgomery, the 10th seed, proved to be to strong in the final frame to take a 65-58 victory that eliminated the Tigers in the first round of the LHSAA Division IV playoffs.
With the loss, the Tigers under first year head coach Fred Hearne, ends the 2024-25 campaign with a 10-19 record, while Montgomery out of district 3-1A, improves to 15-13 overall and continues into the second round where they will play another team from district 1-1A in Haynesville.
After falling behind 19-10 in the first quarter, the Tigers showed great resilience by outscoring Montgomery 18-15 in the second quarter and 18-11 in the third through a great team effort that saw nine JHHS players score during the first three frames. Pierce Ulloa and Ariy’un Bradford scored 8 each and Skylar Strickland added 7 for the Tigers with Kamerin Bradley finishing with five and Channing Gray scoring four points. Also contributing to the point total was Samuel Combs and Dylan Hayes with three points apiece and Tyson Burks who made a pair of free throws.
