Quitman High School alum, Dr. Jamie Toms achieved a major medical milestone this past week when he completed his 100th neuro-robotic surgery at the Ochsner – LSU Health Center in Shreveport.
Neuro-robotic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that uses robotic arms to perform brain and spine surgeries. Surgeons and staff control the robots during the procedure.
Types of procedures include:
Cranial procedures: Deep brain stimulation implants for conditions like Parkinson’s disease
Spinal surgeries: Endovascular procedures
Brain procedures: Minimally invasive procedures using the ROSA Brain, a robotic operating surgical assistant
Congratulations to Dr. Toms for making such a remarkable impact in the medical field!
