The four-man team of Jake North, Nathan Pierce, Aiden Dowd, and Braxton Brown from Weston High School FFA placed second in the Area 1 Carpentry Career Development Event, earning the right to compete in the State Carpentry Event that was held on May 13th.
Starting with a pile of lumber, the group had a 3-hour time limit to cut and construct a 4-foot-by-4-foot deer stand. They also had to complete a math practicum, in which they made a materials list and priced those materials. If anyone would like to purchase the award-winning deer stand to hunt out of next year, it is available for sale, along with several other stands built in class.
