On Monday, June 1, with her husband Joe alongside. Rachel Shively officially became the Jackson Parish Clerk of Court through a “swearing in” ceremony at the Jackson Parish Courthouse, by taking the Oath of Office as administered by Honorable Judge Rick Warren.
Shively, who was elected to the office on May 16th, replacing Laura Humble Culpepper, who retired, gave the following statement after the proceedings.
“Being sworn in as an elected public official is one of the most humbling experiences a person can have. Today, I took an oath of office to serve Jackson Parish as your Clerk of Court, and I am truly honored to have this privilege.
I first want to say a special thank you to my husband, Joe, and my children. You guys stood with me the entire way. I could not have done it without every single one of you. Love you, guys.
Also, thank you to the Honorable Rick Warren, Judge, for administering the oath to me. I am truly honored, Judge!
Also, thank you from the bottom of my heart to Wendy Gaines, Dodie Ford, and Gay Maxwell for all that you do for our office and for me. I am so appreciative of your dedication and devotion to the Clerk of Court office and to me.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to the citizens of Jackson Parish for your continued support and confidence in me as your Clerk of Court. Please feel free to call on me or any of my staff at any time we can be of service to you. This is your office, and we are here to serve you! Thank you again for this opportunity to be of service to the wonderful people of Jackson Parish.” – Rachel Shively
