With temperatures forecast to continue to range into the mid to upper 90s for the majority of the week ahead, the National Weather Service Office in Shreveport, LA has issued a Major Risk Heat Advisory for residents of Jackson Parish and the surrounding areas to the north and an Extreme Risk Heat Warning for areas to the east and south. A Major Risk Heat Advisory and Extreme Risk Heat Warning are issued when extremely dangerous heat conditions are expected or occurring.

Recommendations include avoiding outdoor activities, especially during the heat of the day, and, if you must be outside, wearing lightweight, light-colored clothing; be sure to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks in the shade. Stay indoors in an air-conditioned space as much as possible, including overnight. Check on family and neighbors.
