During the regularly scheduled meeting of the Jackson Parish Police Jury held on Tuesday, July 19th, members of the Gracepoint Christian Academy 4-H Club opened the session by giving a presentation about their award winning, water bottle recycling program, now entering it’s second year.
Last year the GCA 4-H team was awarded Jackson Parish Community Service Award at the annual 4-H banquet. By stopping to use all plastic water bottles at the school it was estimated that 11,000 less plastic water bottles were taken the landfill which saved the school roughly $1,400.00 and reduced the amount of non-biodegradeble material in the landfill.
This year the GCA 4-H Club members hopes to do even better and that others schools, businesses and organizations will join in their effort to reduce the amount of non-biodegrable items that are used and then later disposed of.
