Bobbie Jean Reed
December 4, 1929 – October 19, 2023

reedIn celebration of the life of Bobbie Jean Gaulden Reed at 93 years old, her family would like to announce her moving to her eternal resting place with Jesus on Wednesday, October 19, 2023. She was at the hospital under medical care and died from natural causes.

Bobbie Jean was born on December 4, 1929 as the first child of Albert Landis Gaulden and Era Blanche Morris in Chatham, Louisiana in Jackson Parish. She graduated Jonesboro Hodge High School, worked as a secretary and later married Horace Brown in San Francisco, CA. She was a military wife to Master Sargent Brown USAF medic for many years and was a mother and homemaker, moving to different locations and living overseas in Taiwan with their two children. Many years later, she married Tommy Reed and lived in Jonesboro where they had a son together. Bobbie Jean (BJ) was very creative with sewing, hat making, cake decorating, really anything she set her mind to do and she loved to sing and liked to hum as she worked. She loved to read her Bible and found great joy in going to church for worship and fellowship.

Bobbie Jean is survived by her brother Tommy Gaulden in Virginia, son Mike Brown in Washington, daughter Debbie Brown Kimberlin also in Washington and son John Reed in Arizona. She has six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tommy Reed, her brother Robert Gaulden and her daughter of three months, Patricia Jean Brown.

The family would like to thank the medical staff of Northern Louisiana Medical Center and Allegiance Hospice Care for their wonderful compassionate care of her and their kindness to her family during this time. Also, we want to thank the people and staff at Forest Haven Nursing and Rehab for caring for her all the years of her residency there. A very special appreciation to her friend Peggy Robinson who took her to church for many years and visited her, you are a huge blessing and great testimony of the love of Jesus!

Bobbie Jean’s funeral is being handled by Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA. We also appreciate the fine job Southern-Edmonds is doing in taking care of the many things needed with great compassion during this time.

Friends may visit on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 10:00AM~11:00AM at Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home. A graveside service is set to follow at 11:20AM. Her interment will be in Springhill Cemetery on Walker Road next to her husband Tommy Reed.

May Bobbie Jean have eternal peace and joy in the arms of God.
