
Jonesboro-Hodge High School hosted the annual Llewellyn Starks Invitational on Friday, April 5th, with 12 schools vying for track and field awards in girls competition and 10 more on the boys side.
Led by four first place finishes by Ciara Gray, and Sanaa Tatum scoring in four more, including winning three silver medals for coming in second, the JHHS girls were runner-up behind Alexandria Senior High (ASH). The Tigers boys team, paced by Damarious Burns earning points in four events topped by a gold medal performance in the 300 meter hurdles, finished in fourth overall trailing Winnfield, Green Oaks and ASH.
With Nathan Wages and Juan Gonzalez winning gold medals, Weston High came in 7th in boys competition as did the Lady Wolves, bolstered by a 2nd and 3rd place finish by Lexie Millien.
Overall, JHHS and Weston combined to earn 22 podium places (1st, 2nd or 3rd) with 7 first places, 5 seconds and 10 third place finishes.
