
Carl Huckaby, Jr.
May 3, 1947 – April 14, 2024
Carl Huckaby, Jr. passed away on April 14, 2024 at Northeast Louisiana Veteran’s Home in Monroe, Louisiana. He was 76 years old. Carl was born and raised in Jackson Parish. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a field radio operator during the Vietnam War. Carl entered service on September 30, 1964 and was injured on the battlefield on July 7, 1966. He was honorably discharged and retired on May 31, 1967. Carl loved watching Saints football and western movies on television. He loved talking on the phone. Carl loved God, country and family.
Carl is survived by his half siblings, Vicki Ingram, Ricky Huckaby (Teresa), Carla Landeros (Joe), Mellisa Ogden (Mike), and Melony Zimmerman (Steven); special family caregivers, Travis and Sherry Ables; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Huckaby, Sr.; mother, Mary Ben (Reed) Flores; half brother, Mark Huckaby; and infant brother, Jimmy Huckaby.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 10:00 am until 12:00 PM, at Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with Bro. Michael McDonald officiating. A Military Honors Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
Serving the family as pallbearers will be John Ables, Brody Garrett, Keith Huckaby, Ronnie Keith Huckaby, Jeff Ingram and Jimmy Robinson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Landry Garrett, Jackson Ables, Jayce Ables and the veterans of VFW Post 4317.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Northeast Louisiana Veteran’s Home in Monroe and the staff of Passages Hospice of Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carl’s honor can be made to the Springhill Cemetery Fund or the Wounded Warriors Project.
Glen Dale Wood
June 11, 1967 – April 13, 2024
Glen Dale Wood passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Jonesboro, Louisiana. He was 56 years old. Glen loved people and he never met a stranger. He especially loved children. He enjoyed watching all sports, including LSU and the Saints. Glen liked to play all sorts of video games and his hobby was drawing and painting.
Glen is survived by his siblings, Debbie White, Linda Harlan (Jeff), Gresham Barnes (Pat), and Robert Barnes (Mandy); adoptive mother, Patricia Sluss; 13 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Clark Wood; mother, Glennell (Garrett) Wood; and brother, Charles Wood.
As per his wishes, Glen will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Weston Baptist Church with Bro. Michael McNatt officiating.
