Quitman High School graduate and Northwestern State University signee, Bryan Lay, has won many accolades and honors over the past several months. Now you can add being named an Aaron’s Ace to the list.
The prestigious honor is given weekly throughout the year by KNOE-TV, Channel 8, multiple award winning sportscaster Aaron Dietrich to outstanding athletes in north Louisiana.
“Peanut” as he is fondly called by family and friends, earned the honor after compiling one of the most impressive track and field campaigns in Jackson Parish history. It all began in January when Lay vaulted 14’10” to obliterate the QHS and Jackson Parish record that he already owned. A week later he won LHSAA State Indoor Championships in the Pole Vault. That was followed up by securing his third straight Class B outdoor state title, earning the designation as top pole vaulter in the state, regardless of classification, and being named MileSplit Field Performer of the Year.
