Ashton Plunkett participates in “Poetry Out Loud” at ULM

Ashton Plunkett – Quitman High School

Ashton Plunkett of Quitman High School participated in “Poetry Out Loud” at the University of Louisiana – Monroe (ULM) on February 13th where students showcased their speaking talents before the North Louisiana Arts Council. Ashton recited “The Albatross” by Kate Bass and “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost in the Region 8 competition. 

Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition for high school students across the country. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.
