William Carter, Dr. Robin Potts, Troy Bell and Karen Ray have been named as qualified candidates for the upcoming open position of Superintendent of Schools in Jackson Parish with interviews scheduled to take place on March 13th.
Outgoing Superintendent, David Claxton, made the announcement during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Jackson Parish School Board that was held on Monday, March 3rd in the Conference Room of the Jackson Parish School District Central Office.
Board members Gerry Mims, Mary Saulters, Paulette Belton, Rick Barlow, Wade McBride, Calvin Waggoner and Dennis Clary, also approved the following 2025-26 school calendar.

1. Payment of General Fund, Federal Program, School Food Service,Sales Tax, Special Education, and District Maintenance bills.
2. Grant the Superintendent authorization to purchase Textbooks/Curriculum
teaching resources and consumables for the 2025-2026 school year. Not to exceed
$350,000.00.
3. Accept the low quote of $17,309.18 from Rapid Signs to purchase and install an LED Sign for Quitman High School, to be paid from Quitman District funds.
4. Accept the low quote from Dodson Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $215,200.00 for materials and labor to remodel the Quitman High School Gym Locker room, to be paid from Quitman District funds.
5. Approve out of state travel for Jana Potts, Ellie Mae Ray, Madison Taylor and Advisor, Niki St. Clair from Quitman High School to attend the Senior Beta National Convention in Orlando, Florida, June 22-26,2025. The Jackson Parish School Board will reimburse for expenses according to policy IFCB – Field Trips and Excursions.
6. Approve out of state travel for Molly Beaubouef, Kari Beth Gates, Marcela Gonzalez,
Alley Hines, Makayla Johns, Brianna Moffitt, Olivia Otwell, Anna Shows, Abram Toms,
Megan Walker and Advisors: Kimberly Shows, Cyndi Beaubouef, Ashley Hines and
Elizabeth Gates from Weston High School to attend the Senior Beta National
