Heartache of Loneliness
Loneliness is an epidemic.
The homeless weep while living on the streets and under bridges. Elderly are overlooked, forgotten, forsaken and lonely. Many can’t remember the last time they had visits from family or old friends. Though concerned, staffs of convalescent homes are unable to alleviate emotional longing within hearts of the lonely.
Prisoners also endure the heartache of loneliness.
Apostle Paul spent countless lonely nights behind prison bars. He longed for his Christian friends from Philippi; needing their encouragement, he encouraged them.
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus. For it is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me. For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:1-8 NASB).”
Are you lonely?
Take heart; the LORD longs to bless you.
Do you long for a closer relationship with Him?
“Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you,
And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for Him (Isaiah 30:18 NASB).”
