
The girls and boys basketball team from Jonesboro-Hodge will take part in the prestigous “Doc” Edwards Memorial Tournamen in Bossier City that will be played at Airline and Bossier High Schools this coming Thursday – Saturday. One of 12 teams ranging from Class 5A to Class C, the Lady Tigers, who come in with a 2-9 record open against tourney host Airline High Schoolat 4:30 pm on Thursday. The winner draws a second round bye and to a Friday contest at 6:00 pm with the loser playing against the loser of Benton and Bossier at 1:30 on Friday. No bracket was provided for the boys side. No bracket for the Tigers was submitted.
Weston and Simsboro Have Thursday Games
Weston and Saline High Schools will also be in action on Thursday. WHS hosts neighboring Calvin for varsity girls and boys contests, with the tip-off set for 5:00 pm., while Saline travels to Bossier City to play Providence Classical Academy. Game time is scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.

Lady Wolverines Set New Season High in Scoring
Allie Robertson helped Quitman end their 2025 portion of the schedule in fine fashion by scoring a career high 20 points to lead the Lady Wolverines to a 72-37 victory over Summerfield. With the impressive win that saw QHS score the most points in a game this season, the Lady Wolverines snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 11-6 on the year. Summerfield, which fell to 4-5 overall, held a 14-13 lead after the first quarter before Quitman exploded in the second quarter for a season-best 33 points to take an insurmountable 46-24 lead at the half. Taylor Borland also set a new season scoring mark by chipping in with 15 points and Anna Claire Leach added 13 to give QHS three players who scored in “double digits” while Hallie Kate Pullig almost became the fourth, finishing with 9 points. Emma Walker and Kalisha Hall scored four points each, Ella Simonelli set a new career high with three, Keeley Davis made a basket and both Kinsley Ponder and Sophia Kliebert sank a free throw each to round out the scoring.
Weston Girls Equal Season Best Winning Streak
Weston jumped out to a 14-6 first quarter lead and then put the 56-16 victory over Downsville out of reach by taking a 41-11 lead into the break to win their fourth straight, equaling their best winning streak of the season. The impressive defensive effort that helped WHS to improve to 11-4 this season, forced a new season best 47 turnovers, and set the stage for even another new season best in fewest points given up to an opponent. Offensively it was an all around team effort that saw Carly Jo Griffin scored 11 points to lead 10 Lady Wolves in scoring. Mallory Malone netted 9 points, Jakaylay Fourd added 8 and Kate Keiffer scored 7, while Addison Faulkner finished with six points and Gracie Gray and Ada Claire Tidwell both had five, as did Saniyah Saulsberry, which gave her a new career high in scoring. Teegan Hall made a basket and Tessa Reeves sank a free throw as well.
Lady Tigers Win by Largest Margin of the Year
Samone Mallard continued her recent scoring surge with 21 points to lead Jonesboro-Hodge, which set a new season victory margin, to a 60-20 victory over Montgomery. By winning their second in the last four games, the Lady Tigers improved to 3-9 on the year, while dropping Montgomery to 2-7 overall. JHHS led from the start, taking a 19-8 first quarter lead that ballooned to 31-17 at the half. That set up the best quarter of the season for J-H as they didn’t allow Montgomery a point in the third quarter while scoring 22 to blow the game open. Nesha Johnson chipped in with 13 points while Sanaa Tatum scored 9. Jalenya Jackson added 6, JaKhoriella Lard finished with five and Derryn Osborne, Syla Malone and Trystan Guidry all made a basket each.
Quitman Boys Win 8th Straight
Shane Reed set new career highs with 15 points and 11 rebounds for his first career “double-double” and three others reached double digits in scoring for the Wolverines who set a new season best in scoring in their 88-49 victory over Summerfield. Taden Thomas and Brayden Martin both scored 17 points and Brayden Smith added 11 as Quitman won their 8th game in a row to improve their season mark to 11-4 overall in their last game of the 2025 portion of the schedule. Kaleb Maxwell and Abel Leach added 8 and 7 points respectively while both Hayden Seymore and Eli Jackson finisehd with four points each. Mason Howard and Caden Jackson both tied their career highs with 3 and 2 points each to round out the scoring.
Wolves Win Second in Two Days
Weston beat Downsville Charter 81-52 to win their second game in two days and set a new season best in scoring in back to back games. Gunner Younse led the offensive attack by hitting 7 of 10 shots, including 3 of 6 from behind the arc to score 25 points, all new career highs. With the victory Weston improved to 6-10 on the season while Downsville fell to 3-12 on the year. Malachi Harris also reached double figures with 12 points while Cole Otwell tied his career best with 9 points. Abram Toms also had 9, Ty Henderson scored 6, and both Brody Tidwell and Dawson Griffin finished with 5, the latter setting a new career high as well. Ashad Harris, Eli Henderson, Hunter Donaldson and Colton Otwell tallied three points each and Leyton Younse scored two points to round out the scoring that saw a season best 12 players make points.
Saline Slips by Simsboro
Simsboro had no answer for the inside/outside combination of Eli Ferguson and Gavin Dailey, who scored a combined 51 points to lead Saline to a 68-62 victory that broke a two-game losing streak and evened the Bobcats’ season record to 8-8 on the year. Simsboro fell to 6-7 overall. Conner Roberts also came up big by chipping in with 16 points, and Jay Nash added a free throw as only four players scored. The contest went back and forth with Simsboro taking an 18-10 first quarter lead only to see Saline knot things up at 30-30 at the half. It was a 15-7 third-quarter advantage that saw Ferguson rule the paint for 13 points that spelled the difference.
