The Jackson Parish Police Jury held a Special Called Meeting on February 3, 2026, in reference to the Winter Storm Fern that descended on North Louisiana at the end of January.
The following actions were taken:
· The Jury approved for the Jackson Parish Landfill to be open on Saturdays until the end of March. The hours will be from 7:00 am- 3:30 pm.
· The Jury approved for the Jackson Parish Road Department to be open on Saturdays until the end of March.
· The Jury approved for the Jackson Parish Road Department to pick up debris on parish roads twice between now and the end of March.
The Jury will need our citizens to put debris piles next to parish roads where the boom truck can reach those piles from the road. The debris piles must be trees, limbs, and bushes ONLY.
Please make sure the limbs in the debris piles do not exceed 10 feet long. If the piles are mixed with any other debris or under any low-hanging service lines, they will not be picked up.
Any debris brought out to the Jackson Parish Landfill by a contractor will be charged our standard dumping fee. Debris brought out to the landfill by our citizens will not be charged our standard dumping fee. All debris or materials brought out to the landfill must be separated by storm debris, household garbage, lumber, and white goods.
Residents are asked to be patient with the cleanup process, as over 380 miles of parish roads were affected by this devastating ice storm.
The Jackson Parish Police Jury will provide updates with any additional information when required.
