Saline sweeps Dodson in district 2C battle of area schools

The Saline girls and boys ended their district 2C schedule in fine style by taking road victories over Dodson in convincing fashion. With their 60-27 victory, the Lady Bobcats clinched second place in district competition with a 6-2 record while improving to 13-20 overall while Dodson fell to 0-6 and 1-24 on the year. The Saline boys also had an easy time of it, running roughshod over the Panthers by an 84-54 margin to move their 2C record to win their 20th game of the year against 13 losses and end the district campaign at 4-4. Dodson dropped to 1-6 and 4-25 overall.

Saline 84 Dodson 54 (boys) A four-year “family affair” came to an end on Friday when Trent Ledbetter played his final district game for his uncle and head coach Klint Robinson. Ledbetter showed his appreciation by putting on a spectacular shooting display where he made four 3-pointers and 22 points all in the first half helping his Bobcats team win their 20th of the season. Connor Roberts also came up big for Saline with a season best 19 points as ten players scored in all. Zach Engram led Dodson with 13 points followed by 11 from Boston Duff.

Saline 62 Dodson 27 (girls) The Lady Bobcats closed their district campaign in grand style, erupting for a season high in points thanks to nine players making three pointers and 12 scoring in all. Alaya Gray, playing on a torn ACL, led the Lady Bobcats with 12 points followed by Kacidy Sims, who continued her late season scoring surge with 8 points. Twin sister Alana Gray contributed 7 points in limited action and Tyla Malone hit two of the 3-pointers for six. Rayaunnah Pearson, Rachel Leggett, Alazja Amos and Brooklyn Loyd all scored five with a three pointer each, while Bella Blewer  and Gabi Steward each nailed a trey. Xylia Scott and Jordan Williams closed out the scoring with two and one point apiece. Jayden Browning led Dodson with 10 with Jada Connor adding 8 points.
